Rather than try to be fearless, I prefer to lean into the fear (just a little, not enough to fall down), acknowledge it, and then challenge it. If I can’t find a way to change the situation, then I change my attitude about the situation by tapping into the part of me that’s motivated by love. What does it mean to answer with love? First, acknowledge that you feel the fear in the first place. Let it be what it’s going to be. Then notice what the fear is challenging. What button is being pushed?

When it comes to self-promotion, we want to achieve a balance between those contradictory traits. Healthy self-loathing might show up as humility or self-effacement. Healthy narcissism can manifest as positive energy and confidence that we can and will accomplish our goals.
